Moving Timeline

It figures that Michael’s first contribution to our shared blog is a thoughtful, poignant account of how our relationship began (under “The Lindsey and Michael Story” tab above)…and mine is a succinct post about moving details. It’s started to dawn on me that I am moving across the country in a matter of days, so lately my brain is functioning solely in “to-do” mode. All the mushy feelings will come later–right now I am all business! So, the nitty-gritty:

My last day at work is Wednesday, June 18. That really hasn’t dawned on me yet, either, but I really should start packing up my stuff. I guess I don’t really want to face the fact that I am leaving my “second family” here and am trying to mentally postpone that realization. Then I will have about a week and a half to wrap up the past 26 years of living in Jacksonville; my to-do list seems endless.

Michael will be here the morning of Saturday, June 28, to help me pack up the Relocube with all my belongings…by that time I hope they are all packed. Lately I’ve been focusing on going through all the family memorabilia and getting it all sorted and organized in bins, but the actual packing will be a priority soon.

We want to leave Jacksonville on Sunday, June 29, but just in case things still need to be done we have Monday, June 30, as an option. In any case, I’ll be gone for good by the time July starts. Then while my belongings are being shipped across the country, Michael and I will drive cross-country in my car, making stops in New Orleans, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and Phoenix along the way. We’ll make it to LA on Sunday, July 6, just in time for Michael to go back to work the next day. Whew!

  1. It sounds like you have your ducks in a very orderly row, Lindsey! I know you will be sorely missed at UNF.

Stephen and I are moving a couple of weeks after you, and we haven’t planned our stops yet, except for the first night at my sister Lisa’s in Tennessee. I want to see some of Wyoming, S. Dakota, Montana, states I have never been to, so we’re hoping to take about a week to make the trek.
